We’re a family owned, independent small chain of coffee shops and bars; serving up great coffee, brunch and drinks to even better communities since 2015.

Our espresso bars come with the classic European café bar vibes, with our baristas creating specialty coffees by day, and our bar staff mixing premium cocktails by night. It’s not just the drinks we are good at! We are a well known spot for your favourite brunch dishes.

Although we have grown over the years to include spaces in Barry, Cardiff, Newport and Swansea - you’ll always find that same old warm Academy welcome as you walk through our doors.

Serving up incredible coffee is what we love to do, and to help us do that we get all of our beans from the independent Welsh roastery - Coaltown Coffee.

We’ve partnered with Coaltown Coffee to create a bespoke, delicious and rich house coffee sourced from Brazil. Our team is trained by them to the highest standards, and know all there is to know about our coffee. Just ask them! They’re happy to share their knowledge.

Pups need coffee dates too! (Well, puppuccino dates…)

Bring your pup to any Academy site and they will be treated like the little legends they are! Free puppuccinos for all furry friends is the Academy standard.

Our weekly quizzes are all about the dogs too, with all money raised going to our friends at The Rescue Hotel; a passionate, volunteer-led charity dedicated to supporting the dogs at Cardiff Dogs Home. Our quizzes run weekly at Whitchurch Road, and every other week in Barry. Check our socials for dates.
